Raymond Elementary News
“Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work,
a company work,
a society work,
a civilization work.” -Vince Lombardi
Raymond Elementary School has a unique character trait for January. While,
in itself,
teamwork is not a trait- it encompasses many traits in order to successfully fulfill a task.
A successful team/group has cohesion that emerges when members can exhibit the following skills:
Openness- Group members are willing to get to know one another,
particularly those with different interests and backgrounds.
Trust and Self-Disclosure- Group members trust one another enough to share their own ideas and feelings.
Support- Group members demonstrate support for one another as they accomplish their goals.
There is loyalty and encouragement among team members.
Respect- Group members communicate their opinions in a way that respects others,
focusing on “what can we learn?”
The importance of “working well with others” is stressed in so many of today’s careers.
It is the foundation that builds the culture of a successful family,
business,
school or community.
If parents ever need any resources our activities that can help build the above skills,
I would be glad to share some with you!
